Strider as a modern day hiker.

This is lovely! But I think modern day Strider would be more of a fell runner than a hiker. :)

I am excited to be involved in the The Official Bad Robot Art Experience exhibition taking place at Gallery 1988, in Los Angeles.

G1988 have teamed up producer, director and all round movie mega-maker JJ Abrams to celebrate and commemorate some of the work he’s been involved in creating.

My contribution is a 3 colour, hand-pulled screenprint, entitled Enterprise Down. It’s a 24” x 13” print in a very limited edition of 30 - signed, numbered and titled at the bottom.

While it may have upset some purists, I do quite like what JJ has done with the new Star Trek franchise and have enjoyed the trailers and build up around the new film Star Trek: Into Darkness.

I wanted to create my own contemporary response to a classic icon, but with more of a design angle rather than the usual comic book-esque character poster. The colour choice is influenced by the popularity of teal in JJ’s ST universe and - though it was tempting - thankfully I didn’t go so far as to throw in a lens flare…

The posters will be available from Gallery 1988’s Melrose venue. The opening reception is tomorrow: Friday, April 26th, 7-10PM and the exhibition runs from April 26 - May 18, 2013
